The Animal Emergency Hospital (Athens, GA) is looking for full-time and part-time veterinary technician/veterinary assistants. The ideal candidates must have at least 2 years of veterinary hospital experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant. The successful AEH employee has the ability to be a team player, multitask, quickly prioritize, problem solve, and handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive outlook. As part of the AEH team you are expected to provide the highest level of care by monitoring and ensuring our patients' comfort and well-being. Key nursing skills include but are not limited to proper physical restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, fecal), drug calculations, administering medication, fluid therapy, anesthesia monitoring, taking radiographs, and maintaining logs. Excellent written and oral communication, basic math skills and computer literacy is a must along with a dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement. Hours of operation are after-hours Monday thru Friday, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of emergency medicine, flexibility is a must. Additional requirements/information:Must be at least 18 years of ageMust have High School Diploma/GED or equivalentMust be flexible to work shifts that can include evenings, overnights, weekends, and some holidays.The ability to lift to 50 lbs.Has reliable transportationExposure to potential hazards associated with pets and veterinary care such as bites, scratches, noises, odors, allergens, animal waste, contagious diseases, biohazards, chemical hazards, anesthetic agents, and radiation (x-ray).
