POSITION / PURPOSE:
Assist in the day-to-day operations of Veterinary Transplant Services, Inc. by providing technical and laboratory support for acquisition and processing of tissues, contacting and interacting with clients, associates, and potential donors, and general program maintenance and development. This person is responsible for performing procurement and processing activities, including planning, preparation, processing, packaging, clean-up and maintaining general readiness for procedures; as well as monitoring inventory levels of processing supplies and transplant grafts. It will also involve some laboratory testing, facility maintenance, management of documentation, audit procedures, and other quality control activities.
-Assist in the recovery and processing of cells and tissues
-Assist in graft production planning to maintain the necessary inventory levels of transplantable inventory
-Maintain documentation and organization of records
-Participate in writing, reviewing, and revising technical manuals, protocols and other procedures
-Utilize inventory and tracking systems for all grafts during various stages of production
-Create and maintain process documentation records, and perform some data entry
-Maintain lab, including:
-Run various equipment such as the freeze-dryer, residual moisture balance, processing equipment, etc.
-Participate in monitoring and maintaining needed supplies and equipment
-Sterilization of equipment and supplies
-Participate in regular maintenance of Clean Room and Laboratory facility
-Perform basic lab testing such as pH, residual moisture measurements, etc. and preparing and sending appropriate samples out for testing according to our established protocols.
-Assist with packing and verifying graft orders for customers
-Perform periodic audits of physical inventory
-Position may involve periodic “on call” responsibilities.

2 years of college or technical school
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
Able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Reader, networking, general computer use etc.)
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail absolutely required
Ability to work independently or with a team and exercise good judgement
College degree in Biology or related field, or demonstrated interest and ability to perform tasks as described
Experience in tissue banking, basic laboratory procedures, and/or sterile OR/clean room techniques
Vet tech experience helpful
Willingness to step in and help as needed
Experience with and awareness of Universal Precautions desired
Quality assurance/Quality control experience desired
Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
