Position Title: Lead Veterinarian
Reports to: Medical Director

Location: Daytona Beach, FL

Compensation: Above market base compensation + Pro-Sal, sign on bonus, relocation coverage, and a comprehensive benefit package including healthcare, CE and PTO.

My Pets Wellness has an immediate opening for a Lead Veterinarian. The Lead Veterinarian will act as a leader in supporting all other medical personnel, including associate veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants. This person will provide guidance as a mentor to develop the associate veterinarian(s) and clinical staff. This role will require confidence and proficiency in dentistry, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Medical Oversight
    • Committed to practicing high quality medicine with an interest in continued development by learning new medical techniques and acquiring surgical and dental skills is essential.
    • Pro-actively seeks new information by staying up to date with research on new product information and innovative therapeutics.
    • Ensure medical protocols compliance with associate veterinarians.
    • Excellent, demonstrated medical and surgical skills are essential.
    • Proficiency in dentistry a must including surgical extractions and interpretation of dental x-rays.
  • Medical Records
    • Ensure that all doctors fully document patient medical records to support care offered and facilitate easy communication in multi-doctor setting.
    • Oversee and ensure proper management of controlled substance log and procedures.
    • Ensure all medical records are completed in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork & Efficiency
    • Ensure clear communication, establishing standardized processes and consistency.
    • Provide technical and functional supervision, including scheduling, approving time off, providing technical training, and providing employee feedback.
    • Communicate pertinent information to colleagues for efficient case management.
    • Assist management with recruitment, evaluation, and hiring of medical personnel.
    • Participating in meetings, discussions, and decisions regarding the strategy and operation of the practice.
  • Client Service
    • Address any client concerns professionally.
    • Use client feedback resources to improve doctor performance.
    • Guide veterinarians in clearly communicating appropriate treatment options.
  • Continuing Education Responsibilities
    • Facilitate continuing education and training opportunities for the medical staff (including themselves) focusing on both areas of opportunity and areas of interest.
    • Review up to date medical journals and publications to learn more about new and innovative technologies.
  • Financial Management
    • Assist in maintaining the financial performance of the practice.
    • Identify areas to improve revenue, manage expenses, and coordinate protocol implementation with management.

Requirements:

  • Must have DVM OR VMD from an AVMA accredited institution.
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in the state of clinic location.
  • Veterinary license must be in good standing.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience required.
  • DEA licensure is preferred.
  • Must have enthusiasm for continued learning and improvement, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach.
