Inventory Control Specialist
The Inventory Control Specialist will oversee the inventory for a maximum of six practices within the VIP network.
This includes using the software to determine what needs to be ordered, creating purchase orders, processing the orders via Vetcove, and receiving the product into the system.
This is a Hybrid position that will be half remote, and half in practice. The candidate will ideally be located in Northern New Jersey.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Updating markups and pricing
Communicating with the local team to ensure that their inventory needs are met.
Keeping the local teams informed of backorders and looking into comparable solutions.
Traveling to assist with inventory counts and inventory module setup.
Skills:
Must have strong organizational skills
Must have experience with ImproMed and ImproMed Inventory Model.
Be able to map out projects by prioritization
Plan effectively and efficiently
Must be mathematical and detailed oriented.
Experience with practice-management inventory software, excel and basic computer skills.
Inventory-Management Tasks
Oversee and maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals and hospital supplies.
Establish an effective inventory-turnover tracking system so that practice devotes minimal money and space to store inventory items.
Implement an inventory-control system that minimizes theft by employees or clients using practice-management software.
Implement minimum drug and hospital supply values and reorder points with practice manager and veterinarians. Train staff to properly use inventory system and monitor it for correct use.
Develop purchase orders using computerized inventory data, hand counts, and/or staff’s lists of “we are low” items. Write, track, and file purchase orders.
Place orders for supplies in a timely fashion.
Maintain positive relationships with vendors.
Discuss new products with detail reps or suppliers. Relay information to veterinarians and practice manager and arrange for further communication with company reps or decide which new products to order.
Discuss with practice managers on regular basis on current drugs and supplies or changes.
Supervise receipt of supplies that have been ordered.
Enter merchandise items into practice’s computerized inventory system
Instruct and oversee staff members as to how they should:
o Check orders against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure that shipments are accurate upon arrival.
o Check for breakage or other problems that would render merchandise unusable.
o Report problems to suppliers.
Ability to set R.O.P.s (Reorder Points).
Prepare physical inventory procedures and calculate total variances.
Communicate with Veterinary Technician Supervisor on hospital supplies.
