AARF of Winston-Salem is seeking an experienced (2-3 years) veterinarian ready to make a difference in the world of animal welfare. AARF is an independent, not-for-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization located in beautiful Winston-Salem, NC. The successful candidate will help AARF write an exciting new chapter in its history as you help it settle into its brand new, 6000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art building. The special purpose built facility provides a professional, yet comfortable, working environment that encourages collaboration with staff and volunteers. A full surgical suite is planned, with dedicated space and funding in place.
AARF offers family friendly, flexible working hours. No weekends; no nighttime hours. You will have a manageable caseload; currently averaging about 5 cases/day. You will work with a team of dedicated and appreciative staff and volunteers. The position can be either full-time or part-time. AARF is tax exempt under Section 501(c), which means you may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program for full-time employment (32 hours/week).

Our Mission: AARF is a not-for-profit organization serving the Winston-Salem area dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs and cats through rescue, foster care, veterinary services, adoption, and education.
Manage medical care of AARF animals, both in-shelter and in foster care including but not limited to spay and neuter surgeries, diagnostic evaluations and treatment prescriptions, and other minor surgical procedures.
Supervision of animal care staff and volunteers.
Develop and annually evaluate policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of all animals in AARF care.
Regularly evaluate and implement thorough, accurate, and consistent record keeping for all medical care using the Shelterluv database.
Ensure that all veterinarians volunteering for “Vet Night” or other clinics are equipped with the supplies, medications, and volunteer assistance needed to provide care.
Develop and provide training materials and programs to improve the quality of care offered by AARF foster volunteers to animals in their homes.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and other relevant staff members to make decisions concerning animal care.
